lots of good idioms! There's a whole list of idiomatic expressions here. We should try to incorporate these into our idioms page as well. --Beaver 11:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Jay, I want to add "띄엄띄엄 보다" but not sure how to explain it. Is it like judging someone without really knowing them well? Also look for me on TV tomorrow on an SBS show called PR Korea^^. --Bluesoju 02:07, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Are you going to try to record it Chris? --Mstrum 04:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

yeah but I can't get my tuner to work! It's a wired connection from the wall and it's giving me BS about signal strength and can't find channels. --Bluesoju 07:02, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes kinda, 띄엄띄엄 보다 means ' Judging someone without really knowing them well', AND implied 'underestimating someone'.
Usually used "띄엄띄엄 보지마. (Don't judge .........)"

I've got a 예문 about 띄엄띄엄 보지마.

A : I guess John is clumzy when it comes to using the computer.
B : 그 사람 띄엄띄엄 보지마. 전문가야. (Don't be in such a hurry to dismiss him. He's a computer expert.) [From. NAVER blog 'Judith28']
(Don't jump to conclusions.)
(Don't take someone for an idiot.)

Also, 나를 띄엄띄엄 보지마. = 나를 물로 보지마.

A : 넌 이거 못해.
B : 날 띄엄띄엄 보지 마. (=날 물로 보지마.)

A : 넌 이거 못해.
B : 너 나를 띄엄띄엄 보는 거냐? (=날 물로 보는거냐?)

cf.)원래, 띄엄띄엄 means 'at longintervals, sparsely, scatteredly, sporadically, scatteringly, stragglingly, desultorily'.
  • 띄엄띄엄 읽다 = read at random(desultorily), read skipping here and there
  • 나무를 띄엄띄엄 심다 = plant trees at considerable distance from each other
  • 일본어 공부를 띄엄띄엄 했더니 많이 잊어버렸어요.

PR KOREA 기대돼요 ㅋㅋㅋ 꼭 볼게요. --Jay shin
