• 특별시 <特別市> - Special city
  • Divided into 구
• 광역시 <廣域市> - Metropolitan city
  • Divided into 군, 구

Municipal and divisions

• 시 <市> - City
  • Divided into 구
• 군 <郡> - County
  • Divided into 읍, 면
• 구 <區> - Ward
  • Divided into 동
• 읍 <邑> - Town
  • Divided into 리
• 면 <面> - Township
  • Divided into 리
• 동 <洞> - Neighborhood
  • Rarely divided into 통 <統> or 가 <街>
• 리 <里> - Village
