도록: Difference between revisions

Verb + 도록: This grammar pattern is used to express an action is being carried out to a certain point.

Conjugation Rule
	Pattern	Case	Example
Rule 1:		If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침
Rule 2:		If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem

Korean	English	Notes
죽도록 사랑한다.	I love you to death.
철수한테 손이 발이 되도록 빌었어.
검은 머리가 파뿌리가 되도록 사랑하겠습니까?	Do you love each other till your hair turn completely grey?	At the wedding ceremony
배가 터지도록 먹었어요.	I ate until my stomach burst.
자기야, 미치도록 보고싶어.	Baby, I miss you like crazy.
철수는 죽도록 열심히 일해서 1억을 모았어요.
영희는 목이 쉬도록 소리를 질렀어요.	Younghee screamed until her throat became hoarse.
철수는 온 몸이 빨개지도록 술을 마셨어요.	Chulsoo drank until his entire body turned red/blushed.
춥지 않도록 두꺼운 옷을 입으세요.	Please wear warm clothes so that you're not cold.
철수는 존이 한국말을 빨리 배울 수 있도록 도와주었어요.	Chulsoo helped so that John quickly learned Korean.
