Notes

  • This pattern cannot be used in 2nd or 3rd person.
  • High form: A/V + 지요 뭐
  • Low form: A/V + 지 뭐
  • Contracted high form: A/V + 죠 뭐. 지요 oftens gets contracted as 죠, especially when spoken.

Pronunciation

  • 지요 gets pronounced as 죠 most of the time when spoken.
  • 뭐 is often pronounced as 모 or 머.

Rule 1: Adjective/Verb + 지요 뭐 If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침 가다 → 가지요 뭐
Rule 2: Adjective/Verb + 지요 뭐 If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem 먹다 → 먹지요 뭐
