놈 is a usually used as a derogatory term for males, the female equivalent is . It is often paired with other derogatory terms. Although usually not used in a good way, it can be used similarly to bloke in British English, where although it is not polite, it is also not really disrespectful unless you tell someone you are not close with, or to someone you are younger than.

Words often used with 놈

  • 불쌍한 놈 - a poor wretch
  • 미친 놈 - a crazy guy, crazy bastard
  • 나쁜 놈 - literally means bad guy, but depending on the context can be jerk or even asshole
  • 촌놈 - a person from the country side
  • 도둑놈 - thief
