Adjective/Verb + 기는 틀렸다 : This pattern is used when one had mistakenly thought something, but now sees it is not possible.
|Rule 1:||Adjective/Verb + 기는 틀렸다||If there is no 받침 or if the adj/verb stem ends with a ㄹ 받침||가다 → 가기는 틀렸다|
|Rule 2:||Adjective/Verb + 기는 틀렸다||If there is a 받침 at the end of the adj/verb stem||퇴근하다 → 퇴근하기는 틀렸다|
|오늘 일찍 퇴근하기는 틀렸어(=글렀어).||It's impossible to go home early today.||Low form|
|넌 성공하기는 틀렸다(=글렀다).||There is no hope of your success.||Low form|
|주말에 비온대. 여행가기는 틀렸어(=글렀어).||I heard that it'll rain this weekend. It's not possible to go on a trip.||Low form|
|첫차 타기는 틀렸어요(=글렀어요).||It's impossible to take the first bus.||Polite informal form|
|오늘안에 끝내기는 틀렸어(=글렀어).||It's impossible to finish it by the end of today.||Low form|
|성적이 떨어져서 장학금 받기는 틀렸어요(=글렀어요).||It's impossible to win a scholarship because my grades went down.||Polite informal form|
