Verb Stem + 기 위해(서) : This pattern is equivalent to the phrase for the sake of, benefit of, or in order to.


Conjugation Rule

  • Remove the ending from the verb (-다) to form the Verb Stem, and add -기 위해(서) to the end.

Rule 1: 보다 If there is no 받침 or if the adj/verb stem ends with a ㄹ 받침 보기 위해서
Rule 2: 닫다 If there is a 받침 at the end of the adj/verb stem 닫기 위해서
