V + (아/어) 있다: This pattern expresses the existence of a state or a fact. Must be distinguished from V + 고 있다 which is used to express a continuing action or a process.

Conjugation Rule

Verb stem + (아/어)있다

Conjugation Examples

앉다 (to sit) --> 앉아 있다
서다 ( to stand) --> 서 있다

Sentence Examples

1. 언니는 지금 앉아 있다 (My sister is sitting.)
