Welcome Welcome to the Korean Wiki Project! This project is a collaborative effort to unify knowledge on the Korean language and to make the information easily accessible and relevant to anyone. First, it must be noted that this site is under major construction; A lot of the articles are incomplete and have been created for future editing. One of the goals of this project is to provide the most accurate, in-depth information and accurate translations for Korean grammar patterns and vocabulary words where other dictionaries and books fail. Another goal is to make all information on here simple and easy to understand. As more people contribute to this project, the information becomes more accurate and better explained. If you have any suggestions, ideas, or requests for this wiki, please post them on here (you do not need an account): Suggestions and Requests A lot of the articles here are incomplete. If you would like to request an article to be finished, we can give it priority. To do so, just leave a comment here: Suggestions and Requests  Getting Started Before attempting anything on the wiki, you should confirm that your web browser can properly display Korean characters. If you see random boxes and gibberish or Korean characters here: "안녕하세요?" then you must install Korean characters. If you are using an old browser such as Internet Explorer 6, please upgrade! Not only are you using a browser that is 9 years old, but it is also one that is unsafe. The Internet has changed a lot in 9 years, and now you should look into downloading the latest versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or simply upgrade Internet Explorer. Without a new browser, this site cannot be displayed properly! See the difference here. (Perhaps needs a browser sniffer here if possible.) To contribute most effectively to this wiki, you will often need to be able to type in Korean. For instructions on how to install Korean language input, click here. If you are not able to read the Korean script, then the first thing you should do is check out the section on learning Hangeul. If this is your first experience with the Korean language, it is highly recommended that you check out the full Getting Started page. For More Information on Getting Started, Click Here  General Tasks Contributing There are many ways to contribute. For basics ways on how you can contribute to this wiki, see the contributing page. Vocabulary Do you understand many words in Korean and are able to produce accurate explanations? The vocabulary pages always need expanding or editing, and your help would be much appreciated. Stubs Stubs are articles that are incomplete and need some work. If there is anything you can do to add more to these or even finish an article, then by all means please do so. Photography If you have a digital camera and live in Korea, please snap pictures of signs, electronic equipment with Korean buttons, or anything that might have some use for learning Korean. For example pictures, see Help:Images and photos or Category:Images. Media Looking for a simple task? How about just adding lyrics to the latest Korean songs in the music section? These lyrics can be interpreted by more experienced users and expanded into a learning material by providing brief insight into grammar concepts utilized in the song. To Do Look through the tasks on the to do page to see if there is any task with which you can help. A number of important assignments sometimes appear on this list, posted by users who would like assistance from the community. Brainstorm Have any ideas for this project? Please add them to the brainstorm page and help the wiki grow.  Featured Pages Body parts: A big vocabulary list of body parts, both formal and informal. Subway announcements: Some of the subway announcements too fast for you to understand? We've recorded and typed some out for you. Internet and text messaging: Learn the slang everyone's using online. Hangeul Assistant: Type Korean on any computer, conjugate verbs and practice text messaging in Korean. Tutorial for how to text message in Korean V + (으)ㄹ 게요: Books never fully explain this grammar's limitations, so we did our best to. 2NE1 - I Don't Care: Learn grammar and vocabulary with this popular song. 북한 dialect: Learn differences in a language separated by 50 years. ㄹ irregular verbs: Ever wonder why some verbs conjugate differently?  Urgent tasks [ edit ] All of the below entries are important tasks. If you can, please contribute to these articles in any way possible to help fill in pages that have been identified as important. Internet and text messaging We need more work done on this page. Please add content to this page. Sogang and Yonsei categories needed! We already have categories up for grammar patterns that appear in the Seoul National University program in the grammar pattern section. However we need current and former Sogang and Yonsei students to categorize grammar patterns for their respective text books. For example, if you see a grammar pattern that appeared in the level 1 book of the Sogang program, add [[Category:Sogang Level 1 Grammar]] or if there is a grammar pattern in Yonsei's level 3 grammar add [[Category:Yonsei Level 3 Grammar]] to the bottom of the particular grammar page (and so on). As an example here are the categories for SNU: Category:SNU level 1 grammar Category:SNU level 2 grammar Category:SNU level 3 grammar Category:SNU level 4 grammar Welcome template Could someone please translate this into Korean as well? Just translate the basics and leave the links the same, I will fix the links. Passive form We need a more complete list of passive verbs. Causative form We need a more complete list of Causative verbs.  Experts and Native Speakers Grammar The grammar pages could always use more detailed or clear explanations. In fact, many of the grammar patterns still need to be defined and need examples. If you are a native speaker, please add sentence examples and explanations. Grammar comparison Do you know the distinction between two grammars? Please explain the difference or add more details to an already written article to help clarify some difficult similarities. Incomplete examples We need sentence examples for grammar pages, slang pages, proverb pages, and many others. If you are a native speaker, please visit the incomplete examples category to see which pages still need more sentence examples. Hanja Help complete our list of examples for individual Chinese roots or Hanja pages. Add examples, check for correct meanings, or add new characters that you find missing. Slang and Proverbs Please help organize and add new slang and proverbs. Korean translation needed! The pages listed here need to have a Korean version translated for them. If it is possible, please translate the English and make a Korean version for Korean users. Articles Add or edit articles about Korean culture or living in Korean in this section. Visit a random page Visit a random page and see if you can spot any typos, errors, inaccuracies, or if there is anything you can add to the article.
