Description

Adjective/Verb + (스)ㅂ니까 : This pattern is used for formal interrogative sentences (questions). For declarative sentences, you must use the pattern A/V + (스)ㅂ니다. This grammar pattern appears in formal situations or when the speaker wants to show a higher level of respect.

Notes

  • This pattern can only be used for questions.

Rule 1: Adjective/Verb + ㅂ니까 If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침 가다 → 갑니까
Rule 2: Adjective/Verb + 습니까 If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem 먹다 → 먹습니까
